 Roy Eugene Prince - 1934-2009
Roy Eugene Prince, 75, of Ashland, died suddenly on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Prince was born April 24, 1934, a son of the late Donald Prince and Lillian Elizabeth Hall Prince Mullins but was raised by the late Green B. and Anna Bush Dennis, whom he called Mom and Dad. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Lance, Betty Thompson, Janet Patrick and Helen Robinette; and two brothers, Phillip Lee Prince and Donald Prince.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he went to work at Armco Steel where he retired in 1992 with 40 years of service in the inspection department. After retirement, he worked at Rose Hill Christian School as a security guard for more than 10 years, where he was loved by hundreds of children and affectionately known as Officer Roy. He currently was working as a chauffeur for Classy Limousine Service in Ashland. His most recent passion was woodcarving and was a member of the Ashland Area Woodcarvers Association and was a Kentucky colonel.
He had formerly been a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God and attended Unity Baptist Church. He loved to meet people, never meeting a stranger he could often be found visiting and having conversations with everyone.
His family meant the world to him, survivors include his wife, Bonnie Irwin Prince and their two children, Aaron Michael (Tiffany) Prince and Amber Nicole Prince, all of Ashland; a niece and nephew whom he raised, Heather Irwin and Jeramie (Elizabeth) Irwin; his previous wife, Imogene Griffith Stewart and their children, Roy Lee (Dana Newsom) Prince of Raceland, Ky., Maria Ann Rademacher of Catlettsburg, Gina Lois Prince (Allen) Woods of Russell, Jerry Curtis (Diane) Prince and stepson, James Michael (Joyce) Blair; grandchildren, Madison Paige Prince, Jonathan Edward Ross, Justin Patrick Ross, Tiffany Michelle Rademacher, Trisha Marie Rademacher, Anna Lee Carr, Allison Lynn Prince and Kendell Renee Prince; great-grandchildren, Jason Patrick Ross, Gracie McCoy and Xavier Drake Davis; sister-in-law, Pamela (Charlie) Bowen; two half brothers, Jim (Pam) Prince and Bill Prince; and a special nephew and niece, Paul Green Lance and Mindy Ann Smith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Harold Cathey. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Due to severe allergies, the family strongly requests either silk flowers or contributions to Unity Baptist Church Disaster Relief Fund, 2320 29th St., Ashland, KY 41101.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.steenfuneralhomes.com.

Even though I have never met you, my prayers are with you. We always called him Eugene, and the hand full of times I was around him, he had a super sense of humor and you could tell he was a caring person. I am Janet's daughter, he was my uncle. Take Care.

Our hearts go out to you. We remember the days on Pine Haven Drive, when neighbors were really neighbors. Although we are spread out all over the county-I'm in Indiana; Bobby is in Texas and Debbie in Delaware-we want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God be with you all.
