
Mabel Butler, age 80, of Russell Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 19, 2009 after cardiac surgery in Lexington Kentucky.
She was a loving and caring matriarch, who will be known for her love and zeal for life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 yrs., Samuel S. Butler.
Mrs. Butler was born on September 14, 1928 in Boyd County, the daughter of Rady E. and Ethel Ousley Moore both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a brother Tommy Moore.
She served as a Liscensed Practical Nurse in the Ashland community for over 30 years and retired from Kings Daughters Hospital, to later serve as a volunteer at Bellefonte Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter Deborah Ann Butler Chittum and her husband Jack of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Michael Seaton Butler and his wife Karla of Cincinnati and Dr. Larry Stephen Butler and his wife Vicki of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Traci Butler Long of Houston, Brandi Butler Harris of Lexington, Ky., Lauren Butler Millican of Louisville, Ky., and Nathan Butler of Cincinnati; and 6 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Caleb and Maci Long of Houston, and Cooper, Porter Harris of Lexington, Ky., and Lucianne Millican of Louisville, Ky. She is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Andrew Moore and Ernest Moore and a Sister-in-law
Joann Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm. Wednesday, June 24th, by the Rev. Charles Stewart and Dr. Ronnie Mayes at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Ashland. She will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2pm. A graveside service will follow at the Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm. at the Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel, 1501 Central Ave., Tuesday June 23rd.
