Juanita H. Songer Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1922 - 2009 Juanita H. Songer - 1922-2009 Juanita H. Songer, 87, of Ashland, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Mrs. Songer was born May 25, 1922, in Logan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carl and Ava Browning Hall. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edwin Songer, who died in 2000; and a daughter, Jane C. Songer, who died in 2006. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. Surviving are a son, John Songer, and his wife, Teresa, of Bardstown, and a host of loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Tom Reynolds, Pastor Rob Jordan and Pastor Troy Poff officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to steenfuneralhomes.com.

I'm so sorry about your mom, DD, (aka John Paul.) This is Steve Lester's sister, in case you don't recognize the name. Your parents were the last of the old neighbors. I miss seeing them and Janie around. My mom and dad are gone too. Take care and again, I'm so sorry.

I was very sorry to read of your mother's passing. She was very sweet to answer my many questions on the Songer family when I called her some years back. My father was Alton Payne, a first cousin to your father, who Daddy always lovingly referred to by his childhood name, "Jiggs".
