Mary Louise Muncy Dougherty, 86, died July 27, 2009, at Trinity Station in Flatwoods, Ky.

Mrs. Dougherty was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Elmer W. and Maude Kibbe Muncy.

In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Dougherty, in 1999; and four brothers, Garland Muncy, Albert Muncy, Marvin Muncy and Charles Muncy.

She was retired from Ashland Oil as fleet administrator. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and a 1941 graduate of Ashland High School. Mary Lou was a very active community volunteer. She loved being around people and helping in any way she could. Her church was a very important part of her life as was her involvement with the bell choir. Throughout the years, she held many different jobs and positions with her beloved church and community.

Surviving are nephews Bob (Bonnie) Muncy of Russell, Ky., and David (Jan) Chinn of Raceland, Ky.; a niece, Sharon (Brad) Lambert of Flatwoods; and a sister, Maxine (John) Chinn of Ashland.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ike Nicholson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
