
William E. Rolley Sr. (1922-2009)
William E. Rolley Sr., 87, a lifelong resident of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday morning, Aug. 25, 2009, in Charleston Health Care Center in Danville, Ky.
He was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Harlan, Ky., a son of the late Edward and Celia Bryant Rolley.
He retired from C&O Railroad after 34 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, of the Baptist faith, a longtime member of the NRA and an avid outdoorsman, but most importantly he was devoted to his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Morro Rolley of Danville; a son, William E. "Bill" Rolley Jr. and his wife, Vicci, of Danville; a daughter, Maria Martin and her husband, Richard, of Versailles, Ky.; grandchildren Travis Rolley of Stanford, Ky., Tony Rolley of Danville and Ryan Martin and Megan Martin, both of Versailles; and a great-grandson, Evan Rolley.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Charles Bush. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.
