She was born June 23, 1924, in Ashland, Ky. Her only sibling, Mary Elizabeth Steele, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three children a son, Del Woodford Henry of Tavares, Fla.; a daughter, Lois Jean Schoonover and her husband, Robert, of Newport; and a son, Gary Ernest Henry, and his wife, Heather, of Lexington, Ky.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Christa Gail Spears of Catlettsburg, Ky., Garett Henry of Prestonsburg, Ky., Marisa Taylor Henry of Lexington, Emily Schoonover McHugh of Newport and Yvette Henry Wheeler of Bowling Green, Ky.

Jean moved to Newport in December 2006 in time for the birth of her third great-granddaughter, Maeve Hazel McHugh, the following February. She also leaves behind Melissa and Lacie, daughters of Christa Gail Spears.

Jeans primary passions, in addition to her love for family and steadfast Christian faith, were her love for music and cats. She was a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church and its Aldersgate Sunday school class, taught by her brother-in-law, Harry C. Steele.
