Phyllis M. Roberts (1916-2009)
Phyllis M. Roberts, 92, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009.
Mrs. Roberts was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Daniel and Alpha Collier Dehart.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard F. Roberts, in 1991.
She was a former high school English teacher with the Ashland Independent School District and taught briefly at Coal Grove. She received her B.A. at Marshall University and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland.
Surviving are a son, Jon Roberts and his wife, Brenda, of Ashland; a daughter, Beverly Roberts Sparks and her husband, Arnold, of Ashland; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Pastor Harold Moore. Entombment was in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.
There was no visitation.
Steen Funeral Home in Ashland was in charge of arrangements.
