Zona Ellen Stambaugh
Was born April 1, 1919 in Greenup Co. , KY in a one-room log cabin to William and Myrtle (Earwood) Hurst.
On September 17, 2009 passed away peacefully in her sleep at Ashland Terrace Retirement Community in Lexington, KY, where she had resided for the last 6 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Stambaugh.
She is survived by her four children:
Jerry (Sharon) Stambaugh
Carolyn Stambaugh (Gordon) Nichols
Carl Stambaugh
Lawrence (Dorothy) Stambaugh
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild.
Zona was a long-term resident of Ashland, KY and was an active member of Grace Nazarene Church. For many years she worked for the Trust Department at 2nd National Bank as a Home Health Care Provider. However, her most important job was as a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel is handling all the arrangements.
Visitation will be Friday evening, September 18, from 6 to 8pm.
Funeral service will be Saturday morning, September 19 at 9am.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Burial will be immediately following the service at Rose Hill cemetery with Graveside rights.
