Darlene and George and Carl's Family Carl was the baby of the family, and we used to have the best time teasing him. Looks like he grew up to be an honest man and had a little fun with the wrestling. So glad to have known you Carl (Doodie), your cousin.

Having just heard of Carl's passing, all I could do was send this condolence. I have used Carl as our vacuum expert for 20+ years and found him to be friendly, skilled and always willing to give good advice. Being a trustee at Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Catlettsburg, we called on him often. I believe from our talks that he is with the Lord today. As I pray for your comfort with this great loss, I know in my heart that he is in a better life there than we are here. The Bible says no more pain or sorrow in heaven. I pray each of Carl's family seek Gods peace during this time of loss. Being certain where we'll spend our eternity is the most important decision we will ever make. I am thankful to have know your loved one.

We've been in Mr. Lunsford's store several times and just bought a vacuum from him last week. What a wonderfully friendly man and a pleasure to be around! So sorry for your tremendous loss.

I only knew Carl as The Dark Shadow but I know of his absolute passion for entertaining fans and his love for his family, my 4 year old daughter loved him "she even named our dog "black shadow!" He will absolutely be missed by all of us fans but I know he will be desperately missed by his family and I have you all in my prayers, and want to say thank you for sharing such a great talent and man with us!

I was shocked to find out that Carl (The Dark Shadow) had passed away. I have been out of the wrestling business for a few years now; but Carl would always try and find a way to get Scott Powers back into the sport. Heck Carl was the person who gave me my stage name when the time came for me to begin wrestling. Here is a little story that I remember; Larry (Wildman) asked me why I have only wrestled him on a few occassions. I said, Larry I can't keep a straight face when we wrestle; I start laughing everytime. Myself, Jamie, Cody, & Parker Gee send out our condolences out to his entire family. You were loved very much and you will be missed. The wrestling shows won't be the same without seeing you there.

Janet and family, There are no words to express how shocked I was to learn of Carl's passing. He was such a great man and has always been so fair and so kind to deal with. I have been buying from him since early 1980's and he always had a smile on his face and a kind word. I especially liked getting the chance to meet you Janet, when he would bring my items home with him for me to pick up because he knew I couldn't make it there on time. That's the kind of person he was. I have been praying for GOD to give you all peace, comfort and strength in the days ahead. God Bless You and your family. Lynne

Carl was a true friend and I considered him the best friend I ever had. We had many laughs together and shared many a good time together. Seems like all we ever talked about in the latter years was his favorite subject of wrestling. He would cuss me out everytime I saw him, claiming I caused the business to be a habit he could not get rid of. I did not ever think he would be a wrestler much less become one of the best to ever come out of of the Ashland area. He made so many people laugh and even though I could not wrestle anymore, he was able to let me live it through him. He was the true performer and made me proud to have known him and to have been part of his life. My sympathies go out to all of you as I know you have suffered a great loss as Ashland has suffered a great loss. I am sure he is in heaven enjoying the great ring in the sky looking down on us all with that grumbling (Shadow) voice he used so well saying "I love you all"
