Dear Mr. and Mrs. Douglas, Charlie and Michael, I can't tell you how heartbroken I was to hear about Susan. The two of us were good friends growing up in Ashland. She was a true friend to me and I will never forget her positive attitude, quick wit and sincerity. I last saw Susan several years ago while I was visiting family in Huntington. It was as though the years I'd been living in South Carolina had never separated us. She was a wonderful person and one of the best friends I ever had. My heartfelt sympathies to all of you. Susan will be greatly missed. Mason Weaver Scott

Bonnie, Charlie and Charles Lee, I am so sorry to hear about Susan. We were saddened to see her last Sunday in the hospital. She was a good freind as you all were to our family. Michael, take the strength and wisdom you have gained from the past few years and go forward making your mom prouder than she already was. As I told you last week, you are a good man.

My heart goes out to Michael, Bonnie, Charles, and all of Susan's family and friends. It is very rare to find a friend like Susan. No matter how far apart we were or how long it had been since we saw each other, we could always pick up as if we had just been together the day before. I don't have many high school memories that don't include Susan. She is the only person I know who would drive from California to Kentucky via Houston (only about two days out of the way) just to say HI! My life is certainly better for having known her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To the Douglas and Hahn families, I did not know Susan personally, but I work with Charlie through the court system. My Mother and Father were friends years back with Mr & Mrs. Douglas. I have no words except that you will all be in our prayers to give you comfort and strength.

To Susan's family: I am shocked and saddened to read the tragic news. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I first met Susan when I worked for the Governor. I remember she was a journalism intern and landed a major news scoop. Susan later worked for me in 2003 at Marshall Un. Research Corp. She was always pleasant, smiling, hardworking and very professional. May you find peace in knowing how much she brightened everone else's lives. David Ice, Denver CO

I am in South Carolina and cannot attend the visitation. I was heartbroken to hear about Susan. She was the best friend anyone could ever have asked for during those difficult middle school and high school years. I have so many wonderful memories....Wearing her grandpap's long underwear in the snow, pig roasts in Aurora, Charles taking us to concerts, sitting around the kitchen table with her mom and dad, going on vacations together, her visits to Transy fir the weekend. She was beautiful, vibrant, clever, witty, and loyal. Although we hadn't seen each other in recent memory, I still hold those warm and happy memories in my heart. I still picture her as my maid of honor, crying on my wedding day, shaking so hard there was a puddle of flowers around her, shaken from her basket. I always looked up to her. Her sense if self was strong and it inspired me.Her obituary was perfect. She WAS a wonderful daughter, mother, and friend.

As a classmate, I knew Susan as a friendly, outgoing, and cheerful person who never met a stranger. I know that part of her will live on in everyone she has met. May her family find peace in this sad time.

I worked with Susan at Adelphia. She was a super lady and adored her son. She was always friendly, cheerful and had such a positive attitude. Co-workers come and go... some you remember.... some you don't...... she was and will be remembered. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family.
