Alberta Louisa (Rucker) Duncan (1925-2009)

Alberta Louise (Rucker) Duncan, 84, of Ashland, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland. She was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Sanford B. and Ettie May McDowell Rucker. Her husband, Rev. Gordon Duncan, preceded her in death.

She worked at the cosmetics counter at Parsons Department Store, was a cashier at Sears and assisted in ministry with her late husband. She was a member of the Summit Missionary Baptist Church.

She was survived by four sons, William Duncan of Seattle, Wash., Michael Duncan of Knoxville, Tenn., Stephen Duncan of Fredericksburg, Va. and Mark Duncan of Richmond, Ky.; two daughters, Fonda Miller of Flatwoods, Ky. and Gina Barbour of Danville, Ky.; two brothers, Carl Rucker of Waco, Texas and James Rucker of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a sister, Ruby Carroll of Louisville, Ky.; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Reverend Jack E. Edwards. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.

God picked a angle to go home ,she was loved by everyone at kingsbrook .We will miss her smile ,in our hearts she will never be gone.....our prayers are with her family at the time of her of her loss....I pray they take comfort in knowing she is at peace and spending christmas in Heaven with all the angles singing on high...God Bless you ....and I pray for comfort in your loss ...

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Duncan's passing. Brother Duncan, Mrs. Duncan and the entire Duncan family were a significant part of my early years. The entire membership at Belmont Missionary Baptist Church in those days in particular when Brother Duncan was pastor, was indeed a large extended family that benefited greatly from having known Brother Duncan, Mrs. Duncan and the entire Duncan "brood".
