Mary J. Walton - 1924-2010
Mary J. Walton, 85, formerly of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Huntington, W.Va., along with her twin sister, Mamie Murray Holmes, to the late Charles and Anna Murray.
She was a baptized member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, an avid camper and a member of NCHA along with her husband, the late George Walton Jr., for many years. She was retired from C & O Railroad.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mamie Holmes; a nephew, Fred Holmes; nieces, Karla (Hicks) Eivins, Karen (Hicks) Kouns and Janelle (Holmes) Gillum; a great-nephew, Bryce Eivins; and a great niece, Jasmine Kami Eivins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Nellie Murray Hicks.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Ashland Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. Steen Funeral Home - Central Avenue Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
