I was deeply saddened to hear of Mrs. D passing. Mrs. D was a legendary teacher at Russell High. My mother was one of her student s in the early 70s and she was one of her favorites. She was what every teacher should be in the classroom. Her class was always a challenge, but one was a better student for being there in the end. She truly cared about her students. Many times she was there for me to listen, give a hug or a pat on the back, or a gentle shove in the right direction. She was one of the teachers who inspired my career choice to become an educator. I try everyday to exhibit the same qualities in my own classroom. God Bless you Mrs. D, I will always remember you. "I am firm in my belief that a teacher lives on and on through his students. Good teaching is forever and the teacher is immortal." -Jesse Stuart

JoDee, I am so sorry to hear that your mother has passed. I hope that Ms D. has forgiven all those students that gave her a hard time in the past, (I was one of them or maybe I was the only one!) she was a great teacher and more importantly she was a great person! She allowed each of us to grow in our own way! I pray for you and the rest of the family! Your Friend Philip T. Class of 75
