George E. Harrington - 1925-2010

George E. Harrington, 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Feb. 10, 2010, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 4, 1925, in Paintsville, Ky., a son of the late Martin and Jane McCloud Harrington.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Martin Sidney Harrington Jr., and a sister, Mary Margaret Reynolds.

He retired from Armco Steel Corp. with 42 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Jean Harrington of Ashland; a son, Mark Carter Harrington and wife Linda of Huntington, W.Va.; a daughter, Jill Harrington Smith and husband Brian of Ashland; a brother, Robert Harrington and wife Betty of Bellefonte; precious grandchildren Aaron Hunter Wilburn of Lexington, Ky., and Bradford Harrington Wilburn of Ashland; and his beloved pet, Sam.

There will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Steen Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
