
Helen L. Hutchison, 88, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Marion, Illinois, died on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
She was born on July 16, 1921 in Malden, Mo. the only child of Henry E. and Gracie (Markle) Nation. Helen was united in marriage to Bly Hutchison of Malden, Mo. On October 6, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 24, 1974, her grandson Christopher Hutchison on February 7, 1998 and by her son-in-law Richard Acuff on July 23, 2007.
During WWII she was employed with Post Engineer and War Assets Administration at the Malden Army Air Field in Malden, Mo. Then from 1966 until 1990 for Central Illinois Public Service Company in several capacities. She also taught Microwave cooking for John A. Logan College. In December of 1999 she ended her working career when she retired from the Marion Eye Center.
Helen was a member of the Warder Street Baptist Church for 50 years. She and Mr. Hutchison served as leaders of a large Youth Group. She taught Sunday School, served on the Board of the Christian Education, and served as Sunday School Superintendent. On May 1, 2000 she moved to Ashland, Kentucky where she joined First Baptist Church, Russell, and became a member of the Philathea Bible Fellowship Class.
She is survived by one son, Charles E. Hutchison and wife, Mariann of Williamstown, Ky.; One daughter, Mary Alice Acuff of Ashland, Ky.; One granddaughter, LeAnn (Hutchison) Bill of Williamstown, Ky.; Three Grandsons Damon Acuff and wife Tracy of Metropolis, IL; Jason Acuff and wife Michelle of El Reno, OK; and Aaron Acuff and wife Stacy of Ashland, Kentucky; Five Great Grandchildren, Erik and Brittany Beurkle and Chase, Benjamin and Madison Acuff and a host of loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Russell at 1:00 P.M. EST, with Reverend Ken Gowin officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until service time at the church.
A committal service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, Illinois on Friday, March 5, at 2:00 P.M. CST where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
