Elnora Dodie Drozd Traver (1940-2010)
Elnora Dodie Drozd Traver, 69, of Cowarts, Ala., formerly of Flatwoods, Ky., passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was born Aug. 23, 1940, in Greenup County, Ky., to the late Charles V. Sr. and Mae Gillum Daniels. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank J. Lou Drozd, in 1990. Her husband, Russell L. Traver of Cowarts, Ala., survives.
Dodie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed. She was the owner/operator of several restaurants in this area and worked for many years in food service in the Tallahassee area. She and her late husband Frank prepared many meals for the Potentates ball at the El Hasa Temple in Ashland.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Joanne Drozd Penfield and husband Jimmy of Sumter, S.C. and Cynthia Drozd Burke and husband Pat of Tallahassee, Fla.; three brothers, William Bill Daniels and wife Barb of Boyd County, Ky., Charles V. Buggs Daniels Jr. and wife Donna of Greenup, Ky. and Frank L. Daniels and wife Brenda of La Place, La.; two sisters, Juanita Daniels Thompson and husband H.B. of Flatwoods and Carol Daniels Billups and husband Mike of Summit, Ky.; three grandchildren, Chanelle Sargent Pierce and husband Josh, Frank Ryan Burke and Elizabeth Ann Burke.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Hoods Creek Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Sheldon Wheeler. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
