Betty R. DisneyBetty R. Disney - 1929-2010

Betty R. Disney, 80, of Russell, Ky., passed away in Kings Daughters Medical Center on Thursday, April 8, 2010 following a brief illness.

Before dedicating her life to her family and home, she spent many years working at two local pharmacies and enjoyed the time she spent with the VFW Womens Auxiliary. She loved camping with her husband, family and friends and was an avid UK Wildcats fan. Her rock garden and yard consumed many of her summer days. Not only were her flower beds and home cared for meticulously but the care she gave to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever be remembered and appreciated. She was also a dear friend to many, including her long-time neighbors, the Jones and Adams families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stella and Roosevelt Lemon; an infant sister, Lois Lemon; a brother-in-law, Walter Disney and her husband of 49 years, Paul V. Disney.

She is survived by her brother, James Lemon; a very special sister-in-law, Audrey Lemon; brother-in-law, Donald B. Disney (Carolyn) and sister-in-law, Kathy Disney (Walter); her two children, Don Disney and Kathy Disney Layman (Gary); two grandchildren, Chris Disney (Joann) and Ashley Layman-Bohanon (Richard); her great-grandchildren, Paul Disney, Gemma Disney, Corina Disney and Rilee Layman-Bohanon; and a host of near and dear extended family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Safe Harbor, P.O. Box 2163, Ashland, KY 41105-2163.

Funeral service will be Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Ike Nicholson officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
