Bobby G. Prewitt, 79, of Cannonsburg, Ky., died Friday morning, April 9, 2010, in Kings Daughters Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1931, in Estill County, Ky. to the late W.R. and Elizabeth Hughes Prewitt. His loving wife of 56 years, Peggy Shelton Prewitt of Cannonsburg, survives.

He began his working career as a Kentucky State Trooper, later working as a detective for C&O Railroad and retiring from Ashland Oil. He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran and a member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Rush Masonic Lodge 715 FA&M. He was an avid golfer and coached every sport. He graduated top of his class from the Kentucky State Police Academy and taught marksmanship to the State Police and Correctional Facilities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bobby A. (Carrie) Prewitt of Sadieville, Ky.; three daughters, Robin Prewitt of Cannonsburg, Suzy Prewitt Abbott of Ironton, Ohio, and Cindy Prewitt (Tom) Hilbert of Cannonsburg; three brothers, Sonny Prewitt of Laguna Vista, Texas, Verlon Prewitt of Irvine, Ky. and Leon Prewitt of Frankfort, Ky.; a son-in-law, Dario Margve of N.J.; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Howard, Michelle Abbott, Andrew Margve, Tony Margve, Christa Prewitt and Cassidy Prewitt; and two great-grandchildren, Bob Bob and Lily.

He was preceded, in addition to his parents, by a daughter, Terry Prewitt Margve in 2006; and a sister, Catherine Tipton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church by Pastor Jim Barrett. Burial will follow in Shelton Family Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Kenova Post 93.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.
