 CATLETTSBURG Donald Gene Fannin, 55, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died May 11, 2010, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland.
He was born March 22, 1955, in Ashland, Ky., a son of Charles and Lena Kitchen Fannin of Catlettsburg.
He was a truck driver with Landstar, a graduate of Boyd County High School and loved riding his motorcycle.
Additional survivors include daughters Tamera Kay Fannin and Dana Jean Fannin, both of Ashland; twin brother Ron Fannin of Huntington; sisters Tereca Cook of Ashland, Kay Simpson and husband Jim of Ashland and Stephanie Bradley of Catlettsburg; nieces and nephews Joe Fannin, Christi Eden, Drew Fannin, Justin Cook, Levi Simpson and Makailyn Bradley; great-nieces and nephews Lexus Fannin, Destiny Eden, Landon Eden, Tyler Fannin and Cody Lockwood; and a friend, Jerry Sue Williams.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Brent Hutchinson. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Community Hospice and to Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility for their excellent care to Donald.

Man, what a special, kind, son, brother, you all have lost....and we have truly lost a great, super friend....I know your hearts are hurting like ours and I just wanted to tell you If there is anything we can do please feel free to call..... Donnie was definetly one of a kind but he was our kind and I know he is up above with Ron's mom having coffee and krispy kremes....telling trucking stories...and Ron's mom is listening and laughing intently...We love you all and yes...he is our new angel watching us.....

I am sorry to read about the passing of your love one. I send my sincere condolences to the family and friends. When unforeseen occurrences befall us, and the enemy death strikes our grief can be great. It is at times like this that we need comfort and support whether we are acquainted or not. May the scriptures found at Revelation 21: 1-5, prove to be a source of great comfort for you now, and in the days to come. Your dearly beloved one will not be forgotten, for Almighty God has promised the resurrection. As promised by his Son Christ Jesus all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out& What a grand reunion that will be! You and I have the prospects of seeing our love ones again under the best condition possible, a beautiful Paradise earth; Gods original purpose for mankind. To Donnie's wonderful family: Hearing of Donnie's passing was shocking - we will deeply miss him.
Jeffery, Donnie, & Ronnie grew up together on Route 3. I have heard and been a part of many stories they shared. Jeffery and I met each other while those three were "running the roads". Time takes friends in opposite directions and for that I am truly sad. Jeffery and I have been talking about past times and the fun we shared - that was right before we married 33 years ago. Donnie, you were a dear man and always kind to me and a brother to Jeffery. We will keep your family in our prayers.

First of all our condolences goes to the hole Fannin Family wow this is really hard to believe that we are even wriiting this we have known Donnie for 19yrs we all ran truck together but Donnie was known to us as Speedbuggy him and frosty got there 1 million safe miles driving awards together who would have thought that but over the years they ended up with 2 million miles together thats alot of highway to burn up Donnie was one of our best freinds in the world he was a great guy and a great freind and he surely will be missed on this earth by all of us we had 19great years with this guy but as his family you all got 55yrs with him and our hearts are heavey with your loss he was it we loved this guy so if there are any truckers out there reading this just remember that you do have an angel watching out for you and he will be right there with you as a co polite we love ya Speedbuggy ride high in heaven
