Everett E. WilcoxEverett E. Wilcox, 79, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, June 4, 2010, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Johnson County, Ky., to the late Everett & Grace Stanley Wilcox. He is survived by his wife, Judith K. Layne Wilcox.

He was a retired Kentucky State Police Lieutenant, a U.S. Air Force Korean veteran and a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy in Washington, D.C.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susan Michelle Wilcox Jones and husband Todd of Brentwood, Tenn.; and four sisters, Opal (Jim) Chandler of Springfield, Ohio, Helen Strickland of Mansfield, Ohio, Violet Skaggs of Lowmansville, Ky. and Phoebe (Junior) Womack of Wittensville, Ky.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Wilcox; and a sister, Jean McFadden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Clell Lucas. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Honor Guard services provided by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Owens, B.J. Vanhoose, J.D. Boyles, Charles Butcher and Joe Mullins.

Contributions may be made to Kentucky State Police Trooper Island, P.O. Box 473, Albany, KY 42602.

Mrs.Wilcox, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Wilcox. My prayers and thoughts are with you today. Mr.Wilcox was such a nice man and always had that smile on his face. I know you took very good care of him and he was so blessed to have you.I will always remember his voice he had such a destinctive voice I loved to hear him speak.It was such a pleasure to know him and you. You know God gave us a special gift and that is memories so we can always remember those we love. I pray that He will comfort you and your family and surround you with His peace and love at this time.
