Minnie M. Barker Preston Bays died Friday, June 4, 2010, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Soldier, Carter County, Ky., to the late William H. Barker and Mary Etta Furnish Barker.
She served as a Sergeant in the WAC in World War II. She attended Ashland Business College and was employed as an Office Clerk for General Refractories Plant in Haldeman, Ky. and as City Clerk for Morehead, Ky. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Morehead.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Bays; five brothers, Clayton (Georgia), Clyde, Charley (Ann), Bill (Terra Opal) and Bob (Betty); five sisters, Mabel (Thurman) Day, Grace (Raymond) Williams, Elizabeth (Charles) Lewis, Dora (Larry) Pence and Thelma (Vernon) Rees; and a brother-in-law, John W. Lacy.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. Preston of Florida; and a sister, Mary K. Lacy of Dublin, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or service. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.
