Fredrick Dean Rice, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Middletown, Ohio. He was a retired foreman of electrical maintenance in the Hot Strip Mill and Basic Oxygen for Armco Steel Co., served in the Kentucky National Guard, was a member of the Northeastern Kentucky Fish & Game Association and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Mabel Ballard Rice, and his stepmother, Ruth Rice.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Horgen Rice of Ashland; two sons, Douglas Dean Rice and wife Anne and Paul Edward Rice and wife Cindy, all of Ashland; two daughters, Angie Fryer and husband Brent of Worthington, Ky., and Robin May and husband Todd of Pickerington, Ohio; a brother, John G. Rice Jr. and wife Brenda of Winchester, Ky.; and eight grandchildren, Kyle Rinnie, Justin Fryer, Zachary May, Dylan May, Jobeth Rice, Freddy Rice, Madison Rice and Addison Ferguson.
Private family services will be Thursday, July 15, 2010.
