
PALM COAST, FL Deana Steil Archer Shippey Callari, formerly of Ashland, now living in Palm Coast, Fla., died July 15, 2010, at her residence.
She was born in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of Harry Carnahan and Wanda Skaggs Steil, both deceased.
In addition, she was preceded in death by brothers James R. (Jimmy) Steil in 2000 and Hobey Steil.
She was a nursing home assistant and loved taking care of the elderly. She was a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church.
Deana was the first Boyd County Fiscal Courts coordinator, the first woman city council member in Paintsville, the first woman volunteer in the city fire department in Paintsville and was Businesswoman of the Year in Johnson County in the early 1970s.
Surviving are her husband of 11 years, Angelo Callari of Palm Coast; a son, James William Archer of Raleigh, Durham, N.C., and his wife, Mary, and their children, Zachary and Nathan; a daughter, Amy Archer Spence and husband Jim of Ashland; stepchildren Debbie Callari Deese and husband Shannon of Manteca, Calif., and Guy Callari and wife Andrea of Folsom, Calif.; stepgrandchildren Ryan and Timothy McLellan and Kelsey and Shannon Duck; and sisters Nancy Sturgill and husband Jerry and Jenny Carver and husband Tom, both of Ashland.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Suffragan Bishop Elzy Thomas. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
