Mattie Georgene Webb GardnerMattie Georgene Webb Gardner, 84, of Morehead, Ky., formerly of Russell, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Glenwood, Ky., to the late John Wesley and Mattie Queen Webb. Her husband, Richard D. Gardner, survives. She retired from C&O Railroad after 33 years of service as a clerk and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashland for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Gilbert Gardner; brothers, J.B. Webb, Wesley Webb Jr. and Chan Roy Webb; and sisters, Catherine Blevins and Lorraine Lawson.

Besides her husband, she is survived by daughters, Genie Ann Gardner of Cathage, Mo., Cindy Rowland (Tom) of Morehead, Ky., Mary Turner (Doyle) of Flatwoods, Ky. and Beth Patrick (Bobby) of Morehead; a special niece, Sandy Hunter (David) of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Lillian Swann of Ashland, Genie Clay of Ashland and Donna Wilcox (Bob) of Flatwoods; nine grandchildren, Chris Honaker (Deidra), Michael Honaker (Nina), Amie Lang (Alan), J.T. Popham (Tara), Melissa French (Adam), Erin Patrick, Ross Turner, Joe Patrick and Andy Patrick; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Rose Hill Burial Park by Minister Mark McKinney.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Joe Patrick,Andy Patrick, Chris Honaker, Michael Honaker, Ross Turner and J.T. Popham.
