Phyllis Ann Cline Chalupa, 79, of Cannonsburg, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2011, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Boyd County, a daughter of Ada Mae Adkins Cline of Cannonsburg and the late John Dewey Cline.
Phyllis was a retired educator and substitute in the Boyd County School District and Rock Hill, Ohio, schools. She was a member of Grassland Community Church, a charter member of Rush Eastern Star Chapter 546 and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a 1949 graduate of Boyd County High School and a graduate of Morehead State University and was a Kentucky colonel.
Additional survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Ernest Clay Chalupa of Cannonsburg; sons Stephen Cline (Lillian) Chalupa of Grayson and David Clay Chalupa of Cannonsburg; daughter Sandra Chalupa Douglas of Cannonsburg; brothers Donald Kenneth (Nadine) Cline of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Roy Leslie (Libby) Cline of Cannonsburg; grandchildren Lyn Anne Douglas (James) Powers, Lee Franklin (Sue) Carroll-Douglas, Susan Ruth (Chad Coffey) Douglas and Jeffrey David Chalupa; and great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Gabriel, Jayla, Jack and Leo, due in March. Additional survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor David Herndon. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.
