Richard Lee (Dick) Ravencraft, R.Ph., 66, lifelong resident of Ashland, died suddenly at Kings Daughters Medical Center on Feb. 5, 2011. He was born May 25, 1944, the son of the late George Thomas and Ruth Barker Ravencraft.
Dick graduated in 1962 from Ashland High School and from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 1969. He served on the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, owned Ravencraft's Flatwoods Pharmacy, and worked as pharmacist and manager at various Ashland drug stores.
Dick was of the Baptist faith and a most kind and generous person who helped many people. He was there for those in need and his home was always open to his many friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Chad Thomas Ravencraft of Virginia.
Survivors include one daughter Megan Lee Ravencraft and son Richard Joshua Ravencraft of Ashland; brother George David (Charlene) Ravencraft of Reston, Va.; niece Lori and nephew Mathew (Linda) of Virginia. Dick was the beloved nephew of aunts and uncles Helen Clay, Pearl Smith, John Paul (Kay) Barker and Glen (Clara) Barker. He was also great-uncle to Kimberly, Connor and Rachel; and a great-great-uncle to Brycen and Brookelyn.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel.
A private service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, with burial following in Ashland Cemetery.
