Ruth Evelyn Stamper, 91, of Ashland went home to be with God and all the family and friends who have gone before her on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland with her loving family by her side.
She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Boyd County to the late Marion and Nellie Dunlap Collins.
She was a lifelong member of the First Freewill Baptist Church on Oakview Road in Ashland and a devoted homemaker and loving mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Stamper; brother, Frank Rip Collins; great-grandchild, Zachary Normand, also preceded in death by Michael Stamper and Emily Jane Stamper.
She is survived by two sons, Curtis W. Stamper and his wife Sandi of Pinellas Park, FL, Bill J. Stamper and his wife Christie of Richmond; a daughter, Lanna Kersey and her husband Jim of Ashland; brother, Carl Collins of Finley, Ohio; sister, Rachel Pultz and her husband Jerry of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Carla Renfroe, Jamie Normand, Lisa Stamper, Liane Johnson, Gregory Stamper and Debi Hall; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Ronald Arnett. Burial will be in the Everman Cemetery in Carter County.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
