Githa McKenzie, 89, of Ashland, died Saturday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Hindman, to the late Troy and Addie Fugate Dobson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Dallas McKenzie of Ashland.
She is also survived by sons James (Jennifer) McKenzie of Lexington, Gary (Becky) McKenzie of Roseville, Calif., David (Heidi) McKenzie of Wheelersburg, Ohio, John (Vanessa) McKenzie of Richmond Va., and Steve (Jennifer) McKenzie of Frankfort; a daughter, Marcia (Terry) Reaume of Carmel Valley, Calif.; a brother, Ocus (Martha) Dobson of Ashland; sisters Jackie Gayheart of Ramsey,Ind., and Herma Martin of Jenkins; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church. She graduated with her teaching certificate from Lees Junior College in Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Dr. Floyd Paris. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
