Virgil Gallion, 83, of Ashland, died Friday afternoon, March 4, 2011, in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born on April 27, 1927, to the late Ossie and Mary Kitchen Gallion.
He graduated from Webbville High School in 1948 and was a member of RoseHill Baptist Church and Rush Masonic Lodge 715, F&AM, where he was a Mason for 50 years. He worked for 27 years at Johnsons Dairy and later retired from Carpenters Local 472 in Ashland. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Clarise Mulkey Gallion of Ashland; a son, Danny (Cheryl) Gallion of Flatwoods; a daughter, Cathy Gallion of Ashland; grandchildren Sarah Beth (Austin)Hughes and Emily (Thomas)Stephens; and a great-grandson, Bryant Stephens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Edgil, and other brothers Crate Gallion and Bert Gallion; and sisters Hazel Hatfield, Irene Leadingham, Betty Stromik and Elma Griffith.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Ronnie Mayes. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park, with military services by American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
