1938 - 2011

Moses Pack, 72, of Ashland, died March 22, 2011, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Martin County, a son of the late Willie and Martha Ann Kirk Pack.

He was also preceded in death by brothers John Albert Pack and Jerry Pack and brothers-in-law Doug West and Randell West.

He was retired from CSX Transportation. His career started in 1966 as a clerk at the Russell Yard and he ended his career as manager of labor relations in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1999.

He was a Christian, a 1957 graduate of Inez High School, attended Morehead State University and tried out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. He was a lover of all sports, especially UK basketball. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara West Pack of Ashland; two adoring daughters whom he cherished, Sherri Culbertson and husband Steve and Sara Pack and husband Matthew, all of Cannonsburg; brothers Acie Pack, Billy Ray Pack, Roger Pack, Odell Pack and William Harold Pack; sisters Beatrice Maynard, Jean Ward, Carolyn Mills and Susie Coleman; brothers-in-law Wayne West, Freddie West, Newton West, Larry West and Morton West; sister-in-law Clarice Burgess; grandchildren Caitlin Tackette, Tyler Tackette, Abigail Culbertson, Madelyne Culbertson, Caroline Culbertson, Ayden Pack and Joselyn Pack; and a host of loving extended family members and friends.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Nichols. Burial will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Hope's Place, 1100 Greenup Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
