Van Roy Campbell, 85, of Lake Worth Fla., formerly of Ashland, died Monday, April 11, 2011, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. Campbell was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Ashland, a son of the late Albert and Norma Jenkins Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Morrison Campbell.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Senters and husband Steve of Ashland; a son, Tony Campbell of Lake Worth; two grandchildren, Steven Senters and wife Katherine of Richmond and Scott Campbell of Lake Worth; a sister-in-law, Joann Morrison of Ashland; two nephews, Bruce and Jason Morrison of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Corine Catron, and a brother-in-law, Jim Catron, both of Ravenswood, W.Va.; a nephew, Jimmy Catron, and nieces Joy Catron Searls, Jamie Catron Chenoweth and Jill Weekley, all of Ravenswood; two great-nephews; and six grandnieces.
He served his country proudly with the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was a driver for Matlack Trucking Co.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Jim Catron. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, with full military honors by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
