Dana L. "Corny" Moore, 78, of Ashland, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his residence.
He was born April 14, 1932, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Gilford and Elizabeth Whitman Moore.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
He was a retired crane operator with Armco Steel and served his country proudly with the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was an avid UK fan, but first and foremost was a strong family man. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS and Eagles Club.
Surviving are his wife, Connie White Moore of Ashland; sons Dana E. Moore II and wife Joan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ronald Moore and wife Julie of Rock Hill, S.C., and Gregory N. White of Ashland; daughters Cathy Walden and husband Glen of Fort Lauderdale and Kimberly Bird of Ashland; sisters Regina Siple of Flatwoods, Madge Swim of Charleston, W.Va., and Betty Jane Borquez of Redwoods, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Dale Maddy. Burial will be at noon Monday, April 18, 2011, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.
