Phyllis Ann Wheeler Whitt, 79, of Ashland, died Monday, May 1, 2011, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility. She was born May 26, 1931, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Franklin F. and Neva L. LeMaster Wheeler. She was the wife of the late Jack E. Whitt.
She was a member of Old Oaks Springs United Baptist Church and she also attended Westwood United Baptist Church. She was retired from the Ashland Independent School District and had worked at Woolworth and Woolco stores.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Earl G. and Margaret Wheeler of Lexington; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Lorena Christian of Ashland and Marilyn and Lyndon Langley of Charleston, S.C.; and she was a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews, Susan (Bob) Schindler, Mary Lynn (Ken) Boline, Jan (Bryan) McKinley, Joe (Belinda) Christian, Steve (Susan) Christian, Tim (Terry) Christian, Richard (Diana) Christian and Larry (Karen) Wheeler.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.Thursday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens by Elder Golden Douglas Sloan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
