Thelma W. Rice, 90, of Ashland, died July 5, 2011, at her residence.
She was born March 20, 1921, in Catlettsburg, a daughter of the late Clarence Sr. and Fay Richardson Winburn. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother who raised her, Ida Conley; her loving husband of 59 years, Claude W. "Cotton" Rice; a half sister, Elaine Winburn; and a granddaughter, Deborah Wells Hall.
She was a homemaker and a member of Old Orchard Church of Christ.
Surviving are sons Robert Rice and wife Karen of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Arthur Rice and wife Gayle of Wurtland; a daughter, Edna Rice Hager of Slade; a half brother, Clarence Winburn and wife Alice of Hot Springs, Ark.; half sister Delores Winburn Gerra of East Liverpool, Ohio; three grandchildren, Cheri (George) Jones of Nicholasville and Selene Pennington and Robert Alan Rice, both of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Michelle Sparks and Jefferey Centers; three great-great-grandchildren, Brianna Sparks, Joshua Sparks and Nathan Sparks; and many cousins and friends.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
