1930 - 2011
Wilma J. Walton Stephens, 81, of Cannonsburg, passed away Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Louisa.
She was born June 19, 1930, in Nicholas County, a daughter of the late Joe and Flora Mae Spradling Walton.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Clay Stephens, in 1991; a daughter, Diane Chaffin; and a sister, Patsy Conley.
Wilma spent this life in service to others. This was reflected through her 35 years of service at King's Daughters Medical Center as a registered nurse and continued through a lifetime of caring for her family, friends and loved ones. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg , the Ashland Civic League, Friends of Hospice and the Big Sandy Homemakers.
Surviving are daughters Deborah White and husband Lance of Ashland and Pamela Hay and husband Martin of Louisa; four grandchildren, Tina Chaffin Bruner, Robert Chaffin, Stephanie Chaffin Hightower and Donald Lee McClelland III; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Brother Ric Frazier and Pastor Stan Williams. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the funeral home.
