Woodrow Paul Jackson, 80, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Mr. Jackson was born August 6, 1932, in Betsy Layne, KY, a son of the late Arthur Lewis and Byrde Layne Jackson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son Woodrow Paul Jackson, Jr. a brother William Jackson and a sister Ruth Pinson.
Mr. Jackson was a member and served as an Usher of the Unity Baptist Church in Ashland, Ashland High School Graduate class of 1950, a KY Colonel, an honorary West Virginian due to his contributions for better roadways in West Virginia and continued with many years of consulting work for the constant improvement of roads in West Virginia , attended the University of Kentucky prior to joining the US Air Force where he served in the Korean Conflict, member of the KY Creative Arts Club, volunteer with the River City Harvest, was active in many parenting roles at Paul G. Blazer High School throughout the years. Mr. Jackson had a long career with Ashland Oil and retired with 38 years of service as a division manager of Asphalt sales.
Survivors include his loving wife Glenys Keene Jackson, son Greg Jackson and wife Cindy of Ashland, daughter Cindy Jackson Cooper and husband Randy, brother Arthur Jackson of Holyoke, Mass, sisters, Virginia Dixon of Ashland and Helen Lazear of Lexington, grandchildren, Ashley Jackson , Joshua Griffith, Lauren Cooper, Rebecca (Roger) Doss, T.R. Cooper, III and Kathryn Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel. Officiating the service will be Dr. Floyd Paris. Burial will follow at the Ashland Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #93 Kenova, WV. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 pm Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Pinson, Paul Pinson, Mansfield Dixon, Paul Lazear, Jeff Jackson and Bart Jackson.
