Robert Leroy Hall, 88, of Argillite, formerly of Ashland, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 23, 2013, in Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Boyd County, a son of the late Everett and Iota Pruitt Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Maude Griffith Hall and Wealthy Ann Tufts Hall; and brothers, Bill, Burt, Sam and John Hall.
He retired with more than 30 years of service from the Catlettsburg Housing Authority. He was a Kentucky colonel and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Blevins McCalvin Hall of Argillite; son, Leonard (Doris) Hall of Greenup; daughters, Pamela (Wallace) Stanley and Rita Hall Dehart of Ashland; step son, Paul Curtis McCalvin of Willard; brothers, Clifford Hall of Ashland and Everett Hall Jr. of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of loving extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the VA Medical Center in Huntington and Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and compassion shown to Bob during his final days.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Henry Montgomery and the Rev. Tim French. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be provided by the American Legion Kenova Post 93.
