Kitty Davis Shaw, 82, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, 2014, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born July 30, 1931, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Albert S. and Frances Kathryn Davis Parsons.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. J.B. Shaw, in 2001.
Kitty retired after many years of service with the Ashland Independent School District, spending her entire teaching career at Hager Elementary. She was a graduate of Ashland High School and Eastern Kentucky University. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a lover of all animals, but most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include a son, Scott M. Shaw of North Canton, Ohio; a daughter, Kathryn S. Farmer of Louisville; two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Hultman of Murray and Rebecca Ellis Farmer of Louisville; two dear friends, Kathy and Mark Morman of Ashland; and a large group of friends who allowed her to stay in her home and the city she loved.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by chaplain Jimm Smedley.
Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home.
