Charles H. ``June" Ray, 73, of Ashland, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Ray was born in Hamlet, W.Va., on Nov. 9, 1928, the son of the late Charlie V. and Della Arnold Ray.
He was a retired corrections officer with FCI and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Ashland BPO Elks No. 350, where he was 1992 Elk of the Year, and the American Legion Post No. 93 in Kenova.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Stewart Ray; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey A. and Sabra Ray and Gregory H. and Shelly Ray, all of Ashland; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Joey Duvall of Ashland; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Tom Nelson of Massillion, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Lyle H. Ray, Bradley T. Ray, Mikah L. McKnight, Clay McKnight, Breanna L. Ray and Christopher F. Duvall, all of Ashland.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Steen Funeral Home Ashland Chapel with Pastor Donny McKenzie of the Cannonsburg Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
There will be an Elks service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and a military service by Post No. 93 at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens on Tuesday.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
