Jack Roberts, 80, of Ashland, Ky., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Boyd County Nursing Facility in Ashland following an extended illness.
Mr. Roberts was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Adams, Ky., a son of the late Wilson and Amba Prince Roberts.
He was a retired district manager with Bonded Oil Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Whites Creek United Methodist Church, where he taught the Young Adults Sunday School class for 30 years and was lay leader of the church. He was also a member of the Gideons and Disabled American Veterans Association.
He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was a P.O.W.
Surviving are his wife, Nolene Robinette Roberts of Ashland; a son, Larry Joe Roberts of Flatwoods, Ky.; a daughter, Linda Kay Easley of Hebron, Ky.; two brothers, Henry Roberts of Grove City, Ohio, and Charles Noah Roberts of Gahanna, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Kristina Holley of Florence, Ky., and Melissa Roberts of Flatwoods.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. John Dean and Pastor Ronald Adkins. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park with military rites by American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
