Ruth Bocard, 91, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Woodland Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Bocard was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Arvilla, Pleasant City, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Rolla and Roberta Gorrell Mahan.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Edward Bocard in 1984.
She was owner and inventor of Bocard Bobbi Pants, was a former welder during World War II, and was employed by the University of Kentucky Extension Service.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashland, United Methodist Women, and Pinecrest Homemakers.
Surviving are two sons, Warren Rodger (Billie) Bocard of Ashland and Kendall Edward Jr. (Karen) Bocard of Versailles, Ky.; three daughters, Norma Ruth (Robert) Thompson and Mary Lee (John) Humphrey, both of Ashland, and Judith Arden Thomas of Flatwoods, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Wayne Watts.
Friends may call from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at the Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Steve Thomas, Rod Bocard, Jeff Humphrey, Brian Humphrey, Aaron Thomas and Shane Thomas.
