John Oliver Fearing, 45, of Maitland, Fla., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Fearing was born Sept. 16, 1957, in Ashland, a son of Oliver and Gaye Harris Fearing of Huntington, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dr. Oliver H. Fearing and his maternal grandparents, John and Muriel Harris.
He was a certified hospitality administrator associated with the hospitality industry in Florida, where he managed several hotel properties during his career. He was the resident manager of the 700-room Ramada Resort Parkway, when the hotel won the world-wide honor "Hotel of the Year 1995." He was a member of the Central Florida Hotel/Motel Association.
Additional survivors include his wife, Deborah Barnes Fearing of Maitland; three sons, Joshua Oliver Fearing, Jeremy Michael Fearing and Matthew Brian Fearing, all of Maitland; a brother, Matthew S. Fearing of Dalton, Ga.; two sisters, Linda G. Rader of Knoxville, Tenn., and Gretchen C. Fearing of Annapolis, Md.; and his grandmother, Dorothea K. Fearing of Ashland.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Winchester Ave., Ashland, by Dr. Paul Rader. Burial with family and close friends will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, 1501 Central Ave., and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
