Ellen B. Rhoades, 74, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Born Feb. 17, 1928, in Chillicothe, Ohio, Mrs. Rhoades was a daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Mae Hardisty Short.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jim Ed Duncan.
She was a homemaker, and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Duncan of Summit; three stepdaughters, Rece Hickman of Cincinnati, Ohio, Connie Queen of Westwood, Ky., and Becky Watkins of Russell, Ky.; two brothers, Edward E. Short of Flatwoods, Ky., and Robert E. Short of Jackson, Ohio; a sister, Ida Mae Church of Ashland; a granddaughter, Donetta Duncan Smith of Summit; and a great-granddaughter, Bentley Renee Smith of Summit.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Webster. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
