Eric Matthew Layne, 19, of Ashland, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Lexington.
Mr. Layne was born Nov. 12, 1982, in Ashland. He is the son of Phillip M. Layne and his wife Lisa, and Jane Deatherage Young and her husband Gary, all of Ashland.
A student at Lexington Community College, Mr. Layne was a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, Class of 2000. He was a member of Holy Family Church.
Additional survivors include a brother, Andy Layne of Chapel Hill, N.C., and a sister, Hannah Layne of Ashland; his paternal grandparents, Joan and Phillip R. Layne of Ashland; a grandfather, Ralph B. Felty of Ashland; and a great-grandmother, Mary Wuerdeman of Ashland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Tobias Sabariar. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland.
