Max Houser
1928-2003
Max V. Houser, 74, of Ashland, died Friday, April 18, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Houser was born July 18, 1928, in Tipton, Mo., a son of the late Gideon and Della Freidmeyer Houser.
He was a retired stock broker with Olsen-Houser and assisted his wife, Sally Forsythe Houser of Ashland, for many years operating the Chimney Corner Restaurant.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Additional survivors include three sons, Forrest (Elizabeth) Ragsdale of Lexington, Ky., James Ragsdale, also of Lexington, and the Rev. Philip (Jillene) Houser of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Katherine (Joseph) Berner of Ashland and Mary Claire (David) Thomas of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Herbert (Joan) Houser of Richland, Mo., and the late Gideon N. Houser; and grandchildren Emily, Hallie and Margaret Ragsdale, Joanna and Matthew Berner, Karl, Christopher and Claire Elaine Houser and David Maxwell and Christopher Blair Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at First United Methodist Church in Ashland by the Rev. Dale Carden, the Rev. Blanchard Amstutz and the Rev. Philip Houser. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel.
