Charles Mayhew
1930-2003
Charles Garner Mayhew, 72, of Cannonsburg, Ky., died Monday, April 21, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Mayhew was born July 29, 1930, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Charlie and Fannie Dean Mayhew.
He was a retired crane operator with Armco Steel, was a Korean War Army veteran, was a member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church where he was very active in the food pantry, and was a member of Greenhill Masonic Lodge, and Eastern Star #567. He received three Bronze stars in the 19th Infantry.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Fannin Mayhew of Cannonsburg; two sons, John (Cathy) Mayhew of Canton, Ohio, and David (Carolyn) Mayhew of Cannonsburg; two daughters, Joan (Mike) Gartin of Lexington, Ky., and Rae (Eddie) Roberts of Cannonsburg; a half brother, Frank Bellew of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Brian Mayhew, Jill Mayhew, Heather Gartin, C.D. Mayhew, and Jordan Roberts.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Bruce Hiner and the Rev. John Robinson. Burial will be Rose Hill Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
