James Leslie

1926-2003

James R. Leslie, 77, of Greenup, Ky., died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Mr. Leslie was born April 5, 1926, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Phillip J. and Edith Doran Leslie.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary L. Stultz.

He was a retired accountant with Weldon Construction Co. and was a former two-term mayor and former councilman for the city of Greenup. He was past president of Greenup Lions Club and Greenup Jaycees, past state vice president of Kentucky Jaycees, and was a member of Greenup Christian Church.

His survivors include his wife, Doris Anne Cole Leslie of Greenup; a son, Phillip Bruce Leslie (Leannah) of Russell, Ky.; a daughter, Anne Leslie Stevens (Gary) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four nephews, Bruce R. Cole of Lexington, Ky., David Stultz of Greenup, Tom Stultz of Duluth, Ga., and Brooks Cole of California; a niece, Cynthia Cole of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren, James Brett Leslie of Russell and Allison Anne Leslie of Raleigh, N.C.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Greenup First Christian Church by Pastor Chuck Lees and Pastor Tim Ratcliff. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and after noon Wednesday at the church.

Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Our deepest sympathy to Mr. Leslie's family. He will be sorely missed. He did alot for this part of Kentucky. Christine, Carol and Kenny Conn
