Charles E. Gray, 89, of Cannonsburg, Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Gray was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Elliott County, Ky., a son of the late Dave Gray and Minnie Sparks Gray McGuire.
He was a retired supervisor with AC Lawrence Leather Co. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Ashland, where he taught Sunday School for more than 45 years.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Whitt Gray of Cannonsburg; two daughters, Jo Lynn Huff of Lexington, Ky., and Virginia (Lawrence) Jenkins of Hernando, Miss.; four grandchildren, Charles A. Huff of Lexington, Jonathan F. Huff of Richmond, Ky., Douglas G. Jenkins of Hernando, and Lorinda Appazzato of Connecticut; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Jenkins of Hernando; and special family members, George and Helen Whitt and Robert Whitt.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at First Church of the Nazarene in Ashland by the Rev. Harold Berrian. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Boggs, Ron Rigsby, Rob Garnes, Howard Slibeck, Greg Bryant, and Charles Bastian. A poem will be read by Don Houck and special remarks will be made by Russell Bellomy and Herman Phillips.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
