Madeline "Boots" Kouns, 79, of Grayson, Ky., died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born May 19, 1924, in Hitchins, Ky., a daughter of the late Green and Fannie Dickerson Sparks.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.
She was a homemaker and was a member of First Huntington Christian Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Charles R. Kouns; sons, Carl (Connie) Kouns of Beckley, W.Va., Russell Kouns of Ashland, Jerry (Glenna) Kouns of Coal Grove, Ohio, William (Carlene) Kouns of Coal Grove, Kenneth Kouns of Georgetown, Ky., Carroll J. (Pam) Kouns of Dry Run, Pa., and Harold R. (Ursula) Kouns of Georgetown; a sister, Edith White of Ashland; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Richard Morrison. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
