Ida Eyre

1920-2003

Ida S. Eyre, 83, of Bellefonte, Ky., died Monday, May 26, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

She was born March 3, 1920, in Grand Island, Neb., a daughter of the late Paul E. and Dora Lassen Schwieger.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sydney Werner and Don Schwieger.

A former dietician at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, she was former treasurer of the city of Bellefonte.

She was of the Christian faith, was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society, formerly active in Bellefonte Garden Club, formerly active and held positions in Bellefonte Country Club 18 Hole Women's Golf Association and was currently the co-chairman of the BCC Wednesday Bridge Group.

She was valedictorian of her senior class at Grand Island High School, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in home economics, and did her internship in dietetics at General Hospital in Charleston, W.Va., and Denver, Colo.

Surviving are her husband, Oswin D. Eyre of Bellefonte; two daughters, Jane Eyre and her husband, Dr. Peter Jarosak of Greensboro, N.C., and Paula Eyre and her husband, Mark Dempsey of Charleston; and grandchildren, Sarah and David Jarosak of Greensboro and Pike and Clay Dempsey of Charleston.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Tom Swartzwelder. Her son-in-law, Mark Dempsey, will make comments reflecting on her life. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, May 29, 2003, at the funeral home.
